Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Service (EVS) is a blood bike charity based in South West England. Founded in Weston-super-Mare in 1990, it is funded by public donations and staffed by unpaid volunteers. Their slogan is "Riding for Life".
Freewheelers EVS is a registered charity, which offers an out of hours and free of charge courier service to the NHS. They ride to play our part in saving peoples lives and they ride to save the NHS money that would otherwise be wasted on taxis or expensive couriers. In recognition of the dedicated work of their volunteers, they were given The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2008. This is the highest honour that a voluntary group can receive, equivalent in status to an MBE.
